Zia Read, Beautiful Phoenix, Always Rises

Silhouette of a dancing woman with a pink and purple phoenix behind her represents Zia Read.

Contributor Zia Read believes a home doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful and that peace is as essential as air. She’s a writer, maker, mama, and educator with a deep love for color, comfort, and coffee. Whether she’s stitching something or rearranging a bookshelf, Zia finds joy in the little things that turn spaces into sanctuaries. She enjoys low-pressure, functional, practical beauty, and she’s all about cozy creativity and decorating as emotional nourishment.

Why Zia Read Writes

As an abuse (childhood and adult domestic violence) survivor, Zia Read writes under several pen names for her safety. She believes that education can equal empowerment, and that’s the main reason she writes.

Zia serves women who are building or rebuilding—sometimes after heartbreak, sometimes in the middle of a noisy, joyful, chaotic life.

Around here, you’ll find her painting by the seat of her pants (and sometimes getting the pigment there, too), making something magical from the recycling bin, or batch cooking—and always, always cheering you on.

📍Zia Read lives in a not-quite-quiet house somewhere in the United States with more books than square feet.
☕ She’s happy to share the food, drinks, and vibrance she creates with anyone who wants them.
